Nikolaus v. Bemberg, born in 1991 in Munich, is a musician based in Copenhagen and Munich.

Educated in classical music performance at the Royal Danish Academy of Music Copenhagen under Prof. Niklas Sivelöv and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under Prof. Markus Bellheim, Nikolaus has a keen interest in contemporary music, compositions of the 20th century as well as improvisation.

He creates programs to present classical music in a new fashion to offer an engaging and accessible segue into the larger themes of music and challenge the audience’s conception: For instance “The Art of American Piano” is a talkshow featuring various American music styles including jazz and classical music. The show was premiered in 2019 at Münchner Stadtmuseum. Additionally, “The Memoires of D. Shostakovich” provides a portrait of the Russian composer embracing both spoken word and the performance of a selection of musical works by Shostakovich. It was premiered in 2020 at Schloss Nymphenburg in Munich.

Bemberg has performed with authors, actors, dancers, singers and visual artists such as the Catalan theater group “La Fura dels Baus.” He has received a Germany Scholarship and currently holds a scholarship from the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation. As a jury member he acts for the German youth competition “Jugend musiziert” in an honorary capacity.
